PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Bruce Timm is a founding partner of Barth Tozer & Timm LLP. Mr. Timm previously served as an attorney with Littler Mendelson, P.C., where he litigated employment law matters in state and federal courts on behalf of private and public entity employers. Mr. Timm also represented clients in connection with administrative claims before the Department of Fair Employment & Housing, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and the Public Employment Relations Board, and provided general preventative advice to assist clients in avoiding litigation.
 

Prior to joining Littler Mendelson, Mr. Timm served as an associate in the litigation and public entity departments of Kronick, Moskovitz, Tiedemann & Girard, where he litigated employment law and general civil cases on behalf of private and public sector clients. In addition to employment law matters, Mr. Timm has litigated cases in a number of different practice areas, including products liability, unfair competition/trade secrets, personal injury, and professional negligence.

 
PROFESSIONAL ACTIVITIES AND AFFILIATIONS

Mr. Timm is an active member of the legal community. He also enjoys working with law students at McGeorge School of Law, where he has taught as an Adjunct Professor in the Appellate Advocacy Program, presented on career development issues, judged oral arguments for the national moot court competition team, participated in the Dining With McGeorge Program, and volunteered as a member of the Board of Directors for McGeorge's Alumni Association. Mr. Timm's activities include the following:

•   Past President/Member of Board of Directors, Sacramento County Barristers' Club. The purpose of the Barristers' Club is to promote fellowship among new members of the Bar, broaden their view of the legal profession, and to encourage interest among its members in the improvement of the legal profession and community
•   Past Member of Board of Directors (4 years), Sacramento County Bar Council, the governing body of the Sacramento County Bar Association
•   Board of Directors, McGeorge School of Law Alumni Association
•   Adjunct Professor of Law, McGeorge School of Law, Appellate Advocacy Program
•   Team Teacher (4 years), Operation Protect and Defend—A Dialogue on America. Operation Protect and Defend was created by a concerned group of lawyers, judges, and teachers in response to the alarming statistics that high school and college students lack a fundamental knowledge of the Constitution and American history
•   Moderator, "Ethics and Civility Panel" (3-member panel including a Federal District Court Judge, Justice from the Third District Court of Appeal, and local practitioner), Barristers' Club of Sacramento

EDUCATION

Mr. Timm earned his J.D. from McGeorge School of Law, University of the Pacific, Sacramento, in 1998. While at McGeorge he competed on the national moot court team, and was selected as McGeorge's 1997 "Top Oral Advocate" by Judges Shubb, Levi, and Karlton of the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of California. Mr. Timm received the American Jurisprudence Award for Appellate Advocacy, and was a member of the Traynor Honor Society and Moot Court Honors Board. He earned his B.A. in Management from Sonoma State University in 1994.
